Title: Finance Clerk
Location: Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan
OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Clerk will provide a wide variety of
clerical duties, specifically in the areas of finance and data entry.
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
Treaty Education Alliance Inc. is a First Nations educational organization designing and providing quality educational supports and services for First Nations on–reserve schools in the Treaty 4 territory (Saskatchewan, Canada).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides office support functions for both the Director of Finance and Leadership Team (when
needed), Finance Committee including but not limited to, financial and other filing, - Reconciliation of bills, coding of invoices and purchase orders,
- Gathering compiling data, balancing and coordinating a workload for multiple projects while
meeting deadlines. - Verifies requisitions and transactions; preparing and processing invoices and batches for data
entry. - Prepares and prints vendor cheques.
- Deposits to bank when needed for organization or as directed by Director of Finance.
- Monthly Remittances: Revenue Canada, Pension, Rent and Visa Payments
- Reconcile of Budgets
- Completes payroll functions and staff travel payments in an accurate and timely manner.
- Proficiently uses computer technology to create spreadsheets, retrieve data, manage
databases, and create presentations, reports, and documents using desktop software and
digital graphics. - Provides support to the Director of Finance during the annual audit
- Providing support for Events, PD’s and other staff functions within the organization
- Other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Finance Clerk:
- Possess an office clerk, or similar certificate or diploma from a recognized post-
secondary institution or training program - Have experience working with the clerical aspects of finance and payroll
- Have ACCPAC experience in accounts payable and payroll modules
- Experience with Invoicing for Accounts receivable
- Experience working with First Nations organizations.
- Knowledge and understanding of fund accounting and of federal and provincial government grant programs and reporting requirements, and experience dealing with federal and provincial agencies.
- Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and strong social skills to be able to maintain good relations with community members and other stakeholders.
- Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office and Excel; Accounting software, etc.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- The successful candidate will be required to submit a valid Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerability Screen.
