TITLE:              Communication Assistant – Full Time Position

LOCATION:      TEA Head Office: Treaty 4 Governance Centre, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan

OVERVIEW:     Treaty Education Alliance is seeking applications from qualified contractors and/or individuals for the position of Communication Assistant. As the Communication Assistant, you will be responsible for building and executing internal and external communication strategies. Reporting to the Executive Director and Communications Lead, you will be supported by a team of designers, developers, educators and content creators.

We require an organized Communication Assistant to help streamline our internal and external communications.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: The Communication Assistant will have:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communication or a combination of education and experience,
  • Experience with media relations, and writing news releases,
  • Proficient in MS Office; and graphic design software,
  • Ability to manage, update and monitor Website and Social Media sites,
  • Solid research, writing and editing skills to develop newsletters, briefings, technical documents, presentations and reports,
  • Ability to gather and document information in a variety of ways,
  • Ability to tell a compelling and articulate story, send a clear message, ask powerful questions,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Strong attention to detail with an understanding of the organizational brand(s),
  • Exception administrative, clerical and organizational skills,
  • Ability to self-start, self-monitor, self-evaluate, and self-generate tasks and work plans appropriately, balanced with a strong spirit of collaboration and team.

 

ADDITIONAL ASSETS:

  • Work experience in a First Nation’s organization
  • Knowledge of First Nation’s people’s Inherent and Treaty Rights
  • Your knowledge and understanding of Treaty Education, Indigenous Languages, cultures and histories are an asset.

Contract Opportunity – Elder Advisors – Assistants

TITLE:             Elder Advisors – Assistants – TERM TO JUNE 30, 2021

OVERVIEW:     We are seeking dedicated, full time, community-based Assistants to work with the TEA Elder Advisors. The Assistants will be based in each of the TEA First Nations: Cote First Nation, Kawacatoose First Nation, Pheasant Rump First Nation, and White Bear First Nations.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:

The TEA is an educational organization working with First Nations to provide educational programs and services, and technical and consulting support to the First Nations, their Chiefs and Councils, local educational governance systems, and schools. The Chiefs of the TEA First Nations are working toward the development of a new lifelong learning system based on the effective implementation of Inherent and Treaty Rights. The Chiefs have appointed Elders from each of their First Nations to work with them, and the TEA, as Advisors.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Check in with the Elders regularly.
  • Review information and materials as requested.
  • Schedule meetings – provide reminders and organize meeting documents.
  • Support the Elders with use of technology.
  • Support Elders at meetings and gatherings.
  • Help with ceremonies and protocols, as needed.
  • Support communications, taking notes, delivering posters, help with emails, etc.
  • Attend meetings and training with other TEA Elders’ Assistants, & Technical Team as required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation,
  • Successful candidates will be required to submit a current Drivers Abstract and Criminal Record Check with Vulnerability Screen.
  • All training and orientation will be provided.
