Overview

Teachers are role models in our community and are expected to present themselves professionally and communicate effectively.

The successful candidate will be part of an instructional team and support First Nations cultural, languages and community programs. Teachers are expected to work within the policies and procedures of the WBEC. Additional duties and assignments will be determined in consultation with the principal.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Have a valid Saskatchewan Professional A Teaching Certificate, or in process of obtaining the certificate.
  • Have demonstrated successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to connect with youth in a student-centered learning environment.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to be part of a collaborative educational team.
  • Ability to work effectively within an environment that includes developing meaningful and productive relationships with students, parents, professionals and community service agencies.
  • An understanding of First Nations Languages, culture and traditions is an asset.

The successful candidate may be eligible for a relocation incentive, to be discussed.

Overview

The White Bear Education Complex on White Bear First Nations is seeking a Principal for the 2021-2022 school year. We are seeking a dynamic and committed individual to provide a high standard of educational and administrative leadership for our First Nations’ school. We are seeking a leader who is a dedicated lifelong learner, who understands best practices in Indigenous Education, and whose focus remains consistently on the learning success of our children and youth. White Bear First Nations’ school is located in the scenic Moose Mountains of southeastern Saskatchewan and a proud signatory to both Treaty 4 and Treaty 2. White Bear First Nations offers unlimited year-round access to a range of activities including fishing, hunting, watersports, golfing, and amazing nature.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Education with previous teaching and/or leadership training, certification and/or experience.
  • Must hold a valid Saskatchewan Professional “A” Teaching Certificate and have registered with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Professional Regulatory Board (SPTRB), or willing to be registered.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master of Education or those with advanced education, training and/or certification in the area of school-based leadership, educational administration.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • You are an experienced, highly organized and effective educator with previous school administrator experience and strong leadership attributes.
  • You are an educational leader and innovator with a persistent belief in the learning success of students, and expectations for a high standard of excellence.
  • You are knowledgeable about Indigenous education, including the importance of place-based, land-based and Treaty education, working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
  • You are knowledgeable of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee’s recommendations for education.
  • You are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful and welcoming learning environment for all staff and students.
  • You are a relationship builder who supports and creates positive working relationships that inspire collegiality, collaboration and community building.
  • Your Indigenous language/culture skills are an asset to this position.
